A Few More Tidbits From the Xbox One Announcement
As I am looking over my notes from this mornings announcement, I keep asking myself where are the games and why weren’t they here instead of E3? But that is a rant for another post as there is still some information on Microsoft’s next console, the Xbox One. Say hello to the new dashboard in the upper picture. Looks very similar to the Windows 8 inspired one the that 360 currently has. The new operating system will have the power to run multiple applications through Snap. You will be able to switch from live T.V. via the HDMI in port, to music, to Internet Explorer, to games just like changing the channel on your T.V. now, it will be instantaneous. Also available to be used with Snap will be Skype, so that you can video chat while using the console for other things as well. Xbox Live will be getting a revamp and much more cloud space and computing. There will be a total of 300,000 servers dedicated to Xbox Live, more than the service has ever had. There will be game capturing DVR features, similar to what the PS4 was presenting during its announcement. Achievements will return but will be more dynamic than before. I just hope I can carry over my profile and my 100,000 gamerscore to boot. There will be a Halo live action series that will be exclusive to Xbox One and will have the involvement of 343 Industries as well as famed Hollywood director and producer, Steven Spielberg. Outside of that, there will be 15 exclusives in the first year of Xbox One, 8 of which will be new IP’s. I am surprised that someone at Microsoft found the “Only on Xbox” moniker they lost a couple of years ago. The Xbox One will launch this year, when and at what price we hope to now in just a few short weeks.
