Back to Karkand DLC on its way
Back to Karkand in on the horizon with a release date set for Dec. 6th on PS3 and Dec. 13th on X360 and PC. It will retail for $15 USD and if you preordered Battlefield 3 you will get this map pack for free.
Back to Karkand is a multi player map pack featuring maps from Battlefield 2 and will include Gulf of Oman, Wake Island, Sharqi Peninsula and of course Strike and Karkand. For those of you disappointed with BF3’s level of destruction compared to Bad Company 2, the Back to Karkand DLC will feature an increase in destructibility with allowing for large portions of the maps to be completely leveled.
There will also be a few new vehicles available such as a new APC, the VSTOL fighter jet and a Desert Buggy. Along with the added vehicle will come 10 additional weapons that will cross over into the initial BF3 maps.
For the trophy hungry out the following trophies will be added to the PS3 and X360 achievement systems.
– Bronze – JAWS: Take a swim in the pool at theOmanhotel
– Bronze – Gunslinger: Get 10 kills with all B2K weapons
– Bronze – Third Tour: Get a kill with the new APC, Desert Buggy and STOVL Fighter Jet
– Silver – Complete Warrior: Get a kill with the Rifle, Tank and Jet in a single life
– Silver – Like a Boss: Get a kill with the skid loader
And finally the DLC will include an Assignment System, this is basically an objective based game play style that will unlock weapons and dog tags that will be available to use in the DLC and initial maps. For instance the “let it rain” assignment requires the player to get 20 kills with LMG’s and 2 mortar kills. Meeting these requirements unlocks a new weapon and dog tags and allows the player to move onto the next assignment. How many assignments there are I don’t know but this intrigues me and I think it will add some good flavor to the BF3 multi.
I for one will regain my interest in BF3 and be seen online a lot more come Dec. 13th.
What are your thoughts on the new DLC? Will it refresh your interest if you’ve previously moved on to other games?
