As cliched as it is, I will always love the Halo franchise. The series was the reason I bought an Xbox, and stayed up late more times than I can count because of it’s excellent multiplayer. I am for film adaptations of video games if they stay true to the source material, but that seems to be the biggest downfall to video game films right now. There needs to be a good balance, but right now video games have horrible movie adaptations and movies have horrible video game adaptations, excluding a few here and there that have broken the mold.

The very first Silent Hill game is my favorite game. To this day it still creeps me out!

–Do you ever think it acceptable to make a movie out of a video game?

    Yes and no.

Yes, because there’s generally enough material (either through the game itself or inspiration for the game) that keeping it true to the game or the game series shouldn’t be all that hard. There are plenty of good writers, directors, and actors out there as well that could really pull off key roles and make the movie pretty good.

No, because more often than not, someone in Hollywood, whether it’s a bad writer, director, someone who has no clue how to act or work a camera, or some exec that wants to see their own twist thrown in, someone somewhere will inevitably screw things up, thus making it a very bad movie.

Tetris… I can still spend hours playing all the different versions of that game on all our platforms. (Keep in mind I have systems going back to Atari 400 at home – no Tetris, but plenty of 8 bit love)

If done well, yes…. See:Resident Evil The writers have to seriously pay attention to story line, and also trying to make the movie not suck, so I do understand some creative license deviations.

I could name a ton of recent titles, but I’m going to go seriously old school and say Chip’s Challenge because I cut my teeth (and gave myself headaches) on it as a kid.

If the creators are involved in bringing their art to life, and the music and animation is as epic as the game itself, a movie can work.

My Favorite Video game of all time would be the Resident evil series, I’ve been playing them since they came out back in 1996.
I love the mixture of horror and action.
I believe that it is acceptable to make a movie out of a video game only if the director is skilled enough to write a script that can fallow the games original story line without making it cheesy.

I would have to say my favorite game of all time is Portal 2. Always will be, feels weird since I beat it though. Cause I’m not pouring time into in the name of science.

I believe that some games it would be acceptable to make into movies. Others are amazing enough without them.

My favorite video game would probably be Diablo 2.

I think if the movie stays true the feel of the game, then I think it’s ok.
