Consumer Electronic Show says goodbye to Microsoft after 2012

The 2012 Consumer Electronic Show will be the last CES that Microsoft will participate in. Traditionally Bill Gates and/or Steve Ballmer would make appearances and give keynote addresses but Microsoft announced the 2012 CES as their last due to scheduling conflicts.

“We’ll continue to participate in CES as a great place to connect with partners and customers across the PC, phone, and entertainment industries, but we won’t have a keynote or booth after this year because our product news milestones generally don’t align with the show’s January timing,”

This will likely have some kind of affect on participants but with over 2700 companies flaunting new stuff I doubt the numbers will dwindle enough to talk about. If you have wanted to attend CES with Microsoft as your main attraction then this is your last chance to do so, after 2012 Microsoft will still have reps at CES but wont be the grand presence they typically are, they will have staff there and maybe a small booth presence but nothing major, they will simply be seen. The event will take place Jan 10-13 in Las Vegas.
