Crysis 2 Gets a Demo… Only on Xbox 360.
In an announcement that is likely to make the entire PC gaming communities blood boil Crytec announced that Crysis 2 will be getting a multi-player demo. However, that demo will only be available to Xbox 360 users and Gold subscribers at that.
“The Crysis 2 Multiplayer Demo will feature the ‘Skyline’ map, and two game modes: ‘Team Instant Action’ and ‘Crash Site,'” EA said on Friday. “‘Team Instant Action’ pits two teams against each other as they kill as many opponents as possible to earn higher ranks. In ‘Crash Site,’ players will battle for control of alien drop pods, earning points by guarding their pods and keeping enemies at bay.”
Crysis 2 is still on track to be released on March 22, 2011. EA says the multi-player component of Crysis 2 will feature six game play modes and 12 maps based on real life New York City locations. The game will also include 50 levels that players can advance too and acquire a number of weapon and armor upgrades as well.
This is saddening news indeed as Crysis was one of the last exclusives that PC gamers held on to and now they aren’t even getting a demo of the game before consoles do. This is likely to upset a large number of PC gamers who have been playing Crysis for years.
It should be mentioned that EA is not delaying the game, porting the game or otherwise doing something that would offend me as a PC gamer so I am going to give the game the benefit of the doubt and wait for the release before I pass my judgement. I must say however that this game really reminds me of Halo when I watch it being played. I really don’t like Halo mutli-player so here is to hoping it doesn’t turn out to be a Halo clone.
So what do you guys think? Is this an offense to the PC community or does it really not matter?
