DotA 2 – The International 2013 Starts Today!
So there’s this game you may have heard about called Defense Of The Ancients, or “DotA” for short. Well it was moderately successful for a few imitators to spawn off as well as a full sequel, DotA 2. It got a little bigger and now Valve, the creators and moderators of DotA 2, are hosting a large tournament with a small 1.4 million dollar prize pool for the winning team. They tried this before to some acclaim so maybe this year’s “the year.”
The past week/weekend have been a bunch of preliminary rounds between the teams competing this year, and it’s been fascinating to watch this “top level play.”
Anyway, if you want to watch every single match live as they happen, you can check out the official site, or if you have the client installed you can watch it in (30 second delayed) real-time as the matches take place. The spectator stuff in the game client even allows you to basically watch what they’re streaming on Twitch.tv, letting you view the camera controlled by the caster that you’re currently listening to.
I don’t know, it’s some small thing so you may not care, but if you do there’s that.
