Fur Fighters is resurrected on the iPad
The now defunct Bizarre Creations created some awesome games that ruled my consoles during the early 2000’s. Metropolis Street Racer pulled me into the quasi sim racing scene, Project Gotham 1, 2, 3 and 4 are all in my collection and I revel in their kudos (pun intended). They also produced the defacto twin stick shooter in Geometry Wars and its sequels. In the Dreamcast era they went in a different direction and popped out a wonderful gem, that to this day I still have my DC copy, in the form of Fur Fighters. It was a fun 3rd person action adventure where you took control of different animals and fought against the evil Viggo and his bear army. The game had a great four player split screen multiplayer that my brothers and I spent tons of hours playing. Thanks to Muffin Games, which is comprised of former members of Bizarre, they are bringing this game, sans the multiplayer, to the iPad. Not exactly the platform of choice in my opinion, but at the same time lots of people have the oddly named device and hopefully it can reach a larger audience. The game is available on iTunes for $1.99, which is by far cheaper than tracking down a copy for the Dreamcast on eBay. If you have an iPad, it’s well worth the 2 bucks to check out for nostalgia sake. Unfortunately, I’m sort of a Microsoft fan boy at heart so I will just have to pull out the Dreamcast to relive my nostalgia.
