Gaming in Stereo: Dump Bin Edition

This week we are going to listen to some of the music from a couple of games I featured on Dump Bin Diving. There are two tunes from Mighty Switch Force and two from Street Fighter X Mega Man. Both of the albums are great and are offered through bandcamp as a name your price download. The songs this week are a little shorter than the tracks featured last week but doesn’t make them less effective at what they do. The Mighty Switch Force tracks feature a more dance enamored beat, and convey the more happy, fun tone of the game. The Street Fighter X Mega Man tracks are a 8-bit delight featuring classic Mega Man tunes crossed with those of Street Fighter into something that is truly special, being a huge fan of both franchises.

Mighty Switch Force – Official Soundtrack by Jake Kaufman

Caught Red Handed – This is one of my favorites off the soundtrack. The fun bass drops at the beginning are an excellent hook. The chipper tone and fun beat hold the song up until the (2:14) mark where a strange, yet wonderful 70’s disco theme sets in until the (2:45) mark when the bass drops and warble return. This was the track off the first level of the game. Between this track, the excellent platforming, and timed puzzles, I was hooked.

Launch Hearts – This is a much faster beat, compared to the previous track. To me, around the (0:14) mark, feels right at home with it’s unique art style. The beats in the background remind me of chiptunes and hits the NES 2-D platformer motif very well. The faster pace of the track feels like it is motivating you to finish the levels ahead of the par time. A fast paced driving force to help Patricia Wagon serve justice. Enjoy the fun and faced paced track.

Street Fighter X Mega Man – Original Soundtrack by A_Rival

Ryu Stage – With my current download of Mega Man 2 on the 3DS this track has been popping in my head every time I run though Flashman’s level. A 8-Bit mash up of Flashman’s level music and Ryu’s theme, this is just epic for fans. A_Rival did an outstanding job mashing the two different themes together so well, they seem natural together. Watching 8-bit Ryu pulling off 8-bit Hadoukens never gets old.

Goes With Everything – a hidden bonus track in the game. If you pause the game, hold jump, and then hit Up, Down, Down, Down, this track will replace the stage music. This is Guile’s theme from Street Fighter in chiptune form. As seen in Street Fighter and numerous YouTube video’s the song title is correct, it does go with everything. The song can be played for anything whether your shopping and scored a great deal, to winning the Super Bowl, to having a great first date, the track just screams victory. Enjoy possibly the greatest song for any situation!

As with the previous soundtrack, it can be downloaded here as a name your price download. Please be kind and support the great people of the industry.
