Gaming in Stereo: Reach Friday

[display_podcast]

I thought I would finish out the week with Halo since the big news this week coming from 343 was about the Halo 4 soundtrack. Overture by Martin O’Donnell is off the Halo: Reach soundtrack. This was the main theme from the game and was quite the departure from the trilogy but still felt like Halo in every way. The tribal drums, piano, and chorus made Noble Teams last hurrah nothing short of epic. It’s going to be a shame not to have Martin O’Donnell at the musical helm for Halo 4, though the series is in very capable hands and I am interested to see where they take it from here; but he brought something special to the series, a sense of story in the music that didn’t require you to play the game, yet you could still feel what was going on. O’Donnell is one of my favorite game composers best of luck to him and all of Bungie, Halo won’t be the same.
