My beef with online authentication DRM measures and Diablo III

After months of delays Diablo III has made a perfect example of why online authentication for a single player game simply shouldnt happen. Yes I get that piracy has become a huge issue and Blizzard is just trying to protect is property. However after driving my happy ass to Gamestop, trading in some games and coming home with D3 I expect to be able to play it, at least the single player. Unfortunately Blizzards servers are down leaving many gamers without game on release day. Again I get it but sadly this form of DRM is becoming mainstream and most any game you play is required to have an internet connection and/or online acct to just play the single player campaign. I miss the good ol days when if you bought a game you simply installed off of ten discs and played your damn game. It was awesome. However due to asshats who love nothing more than to fuck with the rest of us this online authentication has been implemented and usually it works fine, not many issues really, but when someone who just forked out $60 hard earned dollars cant play due to server issues for a single player game the down side of this really shines.

Anywho, I am aware that this was more rant than news but to inform everyone, if you are having issues playing D3 it is very likely due to Blizzard servers being either down or launch day glitches being worked out, Another thing to be aware if is this

Error 3006

While playing a Demon Hunter, if a shield is equipped to the Templar follower, you may be disconnected from  You may be unable to login, receiving the message “Error 3006”

These issues are of course being aggressively looked into but it may be some time before things are running smooth.

Thank you, I have just been searching for info about this topic for a long time and yours is the greatest I’ve came upon till now. But, what concerning the bottom line? Are you certain in regards to the supply?|What i do not understood is in reality how you are no longer really much more well-preferred than you might be right now. You’re very intelligent.

As the YouTube movies are posted at this place same like I also embed YouTube video code at my own website, for the reason that it is trouble-free to obtain embedded code.

I have to agree with this. I’m hugely against online only games. I have no problems having the option to take your game online so you can spend time with your friend but forcing the game, especially the single player aspect to be online only I’m not a fan of. What about people who are traveling military? Business people who live out of hotels or people who just can’t get high speed internet in their areas? It just seems like they are left out in the cold.

this is a poor game either way. the graphics are horrible, they have taken Skill Points out of the game, and just seems to lower the bar as far as diablo standards. For the development time put into this it seems like the guys at blizzard just wanted to rake money in from the name. I will prob end up buying this game when its on sale wal mart in like 4 to 6 months for $20. otherwise it just feels like im duped into buying a overprice piece of junk. This game just let me down in so many ways and after the beta i just must say this is a wait til its nearly free title to buy/if ever. And one thing you can probably expect from blizzard is expansion after expansion for this game… after expansion…oh wait another expansion…

It seems like this will be another sad case of duke nukem’ness…. sad really…

this is the main reason I didn’t brake down and buy D3 at launch the DRM requirement is silly! Why is it I can install MS office using only a product key and am able to use it off line? It costs a shit ton more than any game but still I can.… Activision has corrupted Blizzard with it’s ideals!
