PS4 on the horizon?
Word through the grape vine is that Sony has allocated certain studio teams to begin development on next gen software, i.e. PS4 games. This has reportedly been confirmed by sources within Sony’s own studio personnel. Which of Sony’s studios is currently working this is yet unknown, however if approved by Sony, studio teams may begin working on production very soon. That being said I wouldnt expect to see a new Sony Console hit the shelves any time soon, so dont stop buying your PS3 games, and even go ahead and buy your shiny new PS3 that youve been saving up for. Sony has announced, and so far continues to maintain, that the PS3 will have a 10 year life span, so getting your hopes up at this point and putting your gaming agenda on hold would be premature. If Sony does in fact hold off the full 10 years to release a new console then we wont be seeing any of this till 2016. Something to stir the pot though: Does Sony mean they will continue to fully back and support the PS3 for at least 10 years, even after the release of a new console (remember the PS2 didnt die out for quite a while after the PS3’s release), or do they mean there will be nothing in the way of next gen hardware until 2016? Thoughts???
