How to Money Cheat in X3: Albion Prelude

So starting out in X3: Albion Prelude can be a time consuming endevor and can take a very long time.  If you are like me and don’t have a large amount of time to spend actually earning your money and would just like to start with it there is a simple little script you can run within the games built in script editor.  Yes Egosoft is awesome and built in their own script editor that does everything you can imagine.

Before you proceed you should know that TGB and it’s affiliates CANNOT be held responsible for utilizing the in game script editor.  If you change something incorrectly you can break your game and cause you to have to load a previous save.  You use the in game editor and this cheat AT YOUR OWN RISK.  Additionally if you are a Steam user this may mark your game as modified which means you will no longer get acheivements when you play the game.  Having said all that if you don’t care, don’t mind potentially breaking something and/or don’t have the Steam version of the game continue on.

This cheat will increase your bank account in the game by 100,000 credits.  You can put whatever number you like.  I personally did 12 million credits.  I found this was more than enough to get started in both the game and making money much more quickly.  I took 12 million credits into the stock exchange and turned it into 50 million without to much effort.   You must have enabled the script editor cheat to use it.

To enable the script editor, dock your ship and go to the rename your pilot option in the game’s menu. Change the name of your pilot to “Thereshallbewings” and press “OK.”  Save your game and reload it.  You should now have access to the script editor.

Open the script editor and choose <New Script> and name it “money script.” Double-click the “New line” option under the code and choose “Trade Commands.” Find the command named “Add money to player” and double-click it. In the Script Input dialog box, choose <Number> and then enter the number 100,000 and press “OK” until you are returned to the script editor.

Find your money script in the list of scripts, highlight it, and press ‘R’ and then “Enter.”  You can do this as many times as you like until you have the desired amount of credits.

If you have any questions please post them here and we will do our best to help you out!
