Thought of the week: Editor in need…..

This week’s thought came to me the other night amid a 3DS play session that ended again with nausea due to a headache, no I am not talking about the 3D. I have had back trouble for years. Long play sessions even on consoles has me pacing around the room, switching positions in my chair, which is very comfortable, every couple of minutes, always ending in discomfort. I have wider spaces between my vertebrae and was in a major bus accident years ago that took years of chiropractic work to be normal again. Almost 15 years later its effecting me and crimping on the one passion of mine I enjoy the most, gaming; portable gaming more so than console. I can handle about 20 to 30 minutes before I start having trouble with discomfort and headaches and I have to put the 3DS down. This is where I need you, our communities help; any tips on ways to avoid these. It could be anything from a certain way to sit, to a pillow I can purchase that has better support, anything at this point can help. I thank you, the community, ahead for any tips you guys may have regarding my issue. As always hit the comments below.

The problem is, you can either hold the device comfortably in you lap and strain your neck and back, or hold the device up, in front of your eyes, and tire your arms. I have battled this scenario as well. The most comfortable position I’ve found for lengthy portable gaming, is at a table, with a pillow (preferably a fairly solid pillow) under your arms which lie on the table with the device.

If I’m just at home playing the DS, I always play on the bed. Generally I lie on my back, but that’s become difficult due to the 3d and gyroscopic controls. Try lying on your stomach, maybe? I’ve never really had problems.

try a Lumbar support pillow that forces your back to stay straight so you don’t have to slouch as much playing Super Princess Peach, lol!
